When our client purchased this building it was in neglected condition inside and out and in need of cosmetic and structural repairs. Our client wished to convert it into a catering facility with a full-service restaurant and bar. The restaurant theme would be Tuscan Italian. Interior renovations were extensive including a new lobby with winding staircase to the second floor, catering room, 2 large dining rooms and a smaller intimate dining area. The original exterior façade was stucco with a mansard asphalt shingle roof. A small shed roof also existed at about mid-height. We introduced a tight stacked stone veneer capped by a stone cap with an earth tone colored stucco above to break up the massing of the building. Mahogany windows and a mahogany entrance door were added. To compliment the warmth of the windows, mahogany elements were designed including an arbor with brackets below some of the second floor windows and roof eave brackets under the roof overhang. The asphalt shingles were changed to barrel clay tiles.
