Built on 3 acres of property, the original house was about 5,000 square feet. The client’s loved to entertain friends, had 3 school-age children and wished to expand their house for dinner parties, casual get-togethers, pool parties, and family time. As the house was built as a “builder spec home” it did not possess much character or detail on the exterior. We expanded the bedrooms to create a sleeping area as well as a study area for each child, modified and expanded the master bedroom suite to include a large bathroom with view to the private rear yard, created wrap-around porches at the front, sides, and rear accessible from the living spaces and bedrooms, and added a gazebo feature at the rear porch with a view of the new pool. Also designed on the basement level was a home theater, wine room, exercise room, and game room. This completed project won “Best Residential Addition over $750,000” award by the Somerset County NJ Builder’s Association. The existing home plus the addition was just over 9,200 square feet of living space.
